Founder of Ian Taylor Shipping Agencies dies
The founder of Ian Taylor Shipping Agencies, Ian Taylor has died at the age of 75 in Vina del Mar, Chile.

Ian Taylor leaves behind an important legacy in Chilean shipping, having founded the largest Chilean shipping agency Ian Taylor and Company Ltd. in 1965, followed by the creation of Southern Cross Chartering, both with subsidiaries in Peru and Ecuador.


Taylor started working in Valparaiso, at Kenrick & Co., the leading shipping agency in the country at the time, but would soon start his own business, whose success led him to expand rapidly by major ports.


Taylor continued to found other companies, including San Antonio Shipping Agency Ltd. (Port Agency in San Antonio), Walford Maritime and Port Services (Agency port in Arica, Iquique and Antofagasta), Southern Cross Chartering, Martay Ltda Transuniversal Stowage (Muellaje Agent in Punta Arenas), COMAREM Tugs Maritime Company (operator of a tugboat in the southern seas), Pacific Maritime Services (Marpac) and Taylor Pallet Logistics Callao in Peru, Port Ecuador Equatorial addition to the direct subsidiaries Ian Taylor Ian Taylor Peru and Ecuador.
