GAC Brazil opens new office in Sao Luis
GAC Brazil continues its regional expansion with the opening of a ninth office at Sao Luis, the capital city of the Brazilian state of Maranhao, making it the first to be located in the country’s northern region.

The new office, situated on Sao Marcos Bay, an extension of the Atlantic Ocean, will serve two major ports in the area Ponta da Madeira (PDM) and Porto do Itaqui as well as Alumar Terminal, which receives a large number of ships per year discharging raw materials used on aluminium production loading alumina in bulk.

“The Sao Luis office will allow us to better serve customers in the north of Brazil with our range of shipping, freight forwarding and project logistics services. We also aim to tap into new local and overseas business opportunities,” said Rodrigo De Marco, managing director of GAC Brazil.

“The opening of new offices over the years is part of GAC¹s strategic expansion to extend our coverage across the country. Our strengthening presence in the local and regional markets shows that we are a reliable choice for the services we offer,” added De Marco.

The ports import a wide range of products such as petroleum products, fertilisers, general cargo, rice, wheat, LPG and vegetable oil. Exports include aluminium, copper, ethanol, pig iron, soybean meal, manganese ore and soybeans. A substantial part of Brazil’s iron ore is also exported out of the city’s ports.

GAC serves the Brazilian shipping and logistics markets from its headquarters in Sao Paulo, and eight branch offices in Angra dos Reis, Macae, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Port Acu, Vitoria and now, Sao Luis.
