GMN maritime technology project calls for stakeholder participation

GMN maritime technology project calls for stakeholder participation
The IMO-run and EU-funded Global MTCC Network (GMN) has issued a call for expressions of interest from individuals within their respective organisations to become members of the GMN Project’s Global Stakeholder Committee (GSC).

The GMN project has established a network of five regional Maritime Technologies Cooperation Centres (MTCCs), promoting technologies and operations to improve energy efficiency in the maritime sector and help navigate shipping into a low carbon future.

The MTCCs’ range of activities include improving compliance with existing and future international energy efficiency regulations, helping participating countries develop national energy efficiency policies and measures for their maritime sectors, promoting uptake of low carbon technologies and operations in maritime transport, and establishing voluntary pilot data-collection and reporting systems to feedback into the global regulatory process.

“The Global Stakeholder Committee will meet to share ideas and provide long term strategic guidance. Participation in the stakeholder committee is on a voluntary basis and no fees are paid,” IMO stated.

The IMO added that applications would be accepted until 20 July.
