As well as 4,000 cu m of LNG capacity in Mk III flex membrane tanks, the compact design will provide capacity for 1,000 cu m of marine diesel oil (MDO) for bunkering. Other features include GTT’s REACH4 bunker mast, as used in previous designs including a 2,200 cu m bunker barge for the US market announced in September. Equipment for the safe management of boil-off gas will also be provided.
“This approval further positions GTT in the progressive adoption of LNG as a fuel for commercial vessels,” the company wrote in a statement to the press. “GTT is capitalising on its long experience in LNG containment by developing solutions along the whole supply chain dedicated to ship bunkering with LNG.”
Chairman and ceo Philippe Berterottière added: "This is a new step for us, recognising the work done by our team of engineers and designers over a long period.”
