ICTSI’s Manzanillo terminal receives new cranes

MEXICO-CONTECON-CRANES
Contecon Tec II, the ICTSI terminal in Manzanillo, Mexico has taken delivery of two new gantry cranes and five RTGs worth $22.5m.

The super-post-panamax gantry cranes with a range of 23/24 rows and 5 RTG's will increase the terminals’ operations capacity in the short and long-term range.

"This new equipment is part of Contecon TECII-Manzanillo master plan, and we still have more equipment to incorporate into the terminal. It will help us improve our service to our end-customers, and that is our main objective," said Contecon-Manzanillo ceo Fortino Landeros.

“I thanked all of Contecon's human team, which has approximately 800 people, for the delivery and experience of the activities they perform, as well as the necessary measures for the protection and safety required for the optimum working environment and our CROM companions who have always been dedicated to improving the services we give in the terminal," he added.

“We are also expanding the container yard by 18ha to 60ha and the waterfront pier by 180 metres to 900 metres , which will increase Contecon’s capacity by up to 50%, from 1.2m teu to 1.6m teu by 2020 – giving substantial flexibility to absorb the projected growth in cargo volume at Manzanillo’s largest port,” Landeros explained.
