Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) California Highway is beginning its voyage from the Port of Brunswick, Georgia, transporting American-built Toyota Venzas to Russia and Ukraine.

The new dealings with Toyota represent the 21st carmaker to use Brunswick, the US’ third-busiest port, handling 458,061 units of automotive and machinery cargo, an increase of 18% over the 388,061 handled over the same period in the previous fiscal year. The port handles roughly 10% of all US Ro-Ro trade, and 12 percent of US Ro-Ro imports.

“Increasingly, Brunswick is a critical gateway for American-made vehicles entering the global marketplace,” said Georgia Port Authority executive director Curtis Foltz. “Because of our direct interstate access and two Class I rail services, we can move exports from inland factories more efficiently, as well as move import cargo to destinations across the Southeast.”

International Auto Processing, the original auto processing company on Colonel’s Island with more than 200,000 sq ft of processing facilities and 255 acres of storage there, is serving as Toyota’s auto processor at the port.

Corinne Akahoshi, national manager of Marine Logistics Operations at Toyota Motor Sales, USA, said “The export of American-built Venzas to Russia and Ukraine further solidifies Toyota’s commitment to establishing its US manufacturing operations as a key supplier of vehicles for global markets.”
