Keppel wins $240m rig order for Mexico
Keppel AmFELS, wholly subsidiary of Singapore's Keppel Offshore & Marine, has won a contract to build a $240m jack-up rig for Central Panuco, a subsidiary of Mexico's Perforadora Central.

The KFELS B Class jack-up rig is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The new rig will be able to operate in water depths of up to 400 feet and drill to depths of 30,000 feet.

With this latest contract, a total of 13 KFELS B Class jack-up rigs have been ordered for the Mexican market since 2010.

“There is strong demand from Pemex for high quality rigs and the KFELS B Class is a top class jack-up with a proven track record operating in Mexico,” said a spokesperson from Perforadora Central.

Keppel O&M has earlier announced a partnership with Pemex, Mexico's national oil firm, to develop a $400m yard to build jack-up rigs. The yard is expected to initially build six jack-up rigs for Pemex.
