MOL enters into FSRU project in Uruguay

MOL enters into FSRU project in Uruguay
Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has signed a 20-year time-charter on one floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) with a subsidiary of GDF Suez for operation in Uruguay.

The 263,000 cu m FSRU will be a core facility for a LNG import project in Uruguay led by Gas Sayago.

Built by South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), the FSRU will be completed in September 2016 and will enter into service in November 2016 after delivery and commissioning at Montevideo port.

MOL said this will be the first FSRU project for the Japanese firm to solely build, own and operate.

“Participation in this project marks an important milestone for MOL to enter into the expanding business field. MOL will take further active steps to develop more new business opportunities in this field that promises growth,” MOL said.
