New Med - US Gulf - Ecuador service for CMA CGM

New Med - US Gulf - Ecuador service for CMA CGM
CMA CGM will start a new service between the Mediterranean Sea, the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador, dubbed the Med Gulf Ecuador (MGE) service on 19 December.

Deploying nine CMA CGM vessels between 2,100 and 2,500 teu, with large reefer capacity, the new service allows one of the world’s largest banana producers, Ecuador, a quick 19-day link to Malta.

The route also provides what CMA CGM claims is the only direct weekly service between the Gulf of Mexico (Veracruz, Altamira, Houston and New Orleans) and Ecuador, as well as creating transhipment connections with other CMA CGM services offered in Malta, including routes throughout the Mediterranean Sea, North Africa, and the Middle East.

Leaving first from Guayaquil on 19 December, the new rotation will incorporate Malta, Livorno, Genoa, Barcelona, Valencia, Tangier, Caucedo, Kingston, Veracruz, Altamira, Houston, New Orleans, Kingston, Cartagena, Guayaquil and Kingston before returning to Malta.

“By launching this new line, CMA CGM positions itself as a major player on the Ecuadorian Reefer market and offers its clients the best service to the Mediterranean,” said Xavier Eiglier, CMA CGM Caribbean and Latin America Lines vp. “The Group also provides multiple export opportunities to numerous markets for North and South American clients, thanks to calls at Kingston and Malta Group’s hubs.”
