Offshore shipbuilder Vard wins largest ever order
Vard Holdings has won its largest ever order for four Pipe Lay Support Vessels (PLSVs) worth a total of $1.1bn.

The contract with DOF Subsea and Technip joint ventures is for the design and construction of the vessels, which will be built in yards Romania, Norway and Brazil.

The hulls of two Vard 3 05 design vessels will be built in Romania and outfitted at Vard’s yard in Norway. They are due for delivery in the second and third quarters of 2016.

The two vessels will built to the Vard 3 16 design at the Vard Promar yard in Brazil. They are due for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2016 and second quarter of 2017.

“Vard yards in both Europe and Brazil being chosen to build these vessels illustrates the value of having a global presence when working with international clients, and bringing leading edge technology to new markets,” said Roy Reite, ceo and executive director of Vard.

The topside equipment for all the vessels will be delivered by Huisman.
