Norwegian Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) manufacturer expects to double revenues in 2019 over last a record year last year when it sold over 100 systems.

With the installation of BWTS now mandatory Optimarin, one of the longest standing players in the market with 25 years of history, is reaping the rewards.

Last year was a record year for the company selling over 100 systems and its orderbook is now five times what it was at this point last year.

The company said it had already sold “a host” of systems this year and ceo Tore Andersen is aiming for a 100% increase in year-on-year sales in 2019.

“There’s no reason at all that ambitious target can’t be achieved,” he said.

“The ratification of the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention, allied to the USCG’s stringent requirements, fired a starting gun and, thanks to our established expertise, technology and the fact we were the first to achieve USCG compliance, we’re in an excellent position to meet that demand.”

Optimarin has sold close to 700 BWTS with 500 installed and operational of which roughly half are retrofits.
