Pole Star inks partnership with Ericsson in maritime sector
Ericsson and Pole Star Space Applications have announced a global business and technology partnership to create industry leading services focused on the maritime sector.

Pole Star is a privately owned UK technology company that has been providing vessel monitoring, regulatory compliance & risk management services to the shipping industry since 1998 and leading providers of remote fleet monitoring, risk management, ship security, Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) and fisheries monitoring services.

The strategic partnership will offer maritime customers the best of both companies: ICT transformation, networking, cloud, mobility, management, regulatory compliance, situational awareness, and global services capabilities.

The new strategic partnership will allow both companies to jointly address the needs of traditional shipping customers looking for improved fleet efficiency gains, as well as providing new solutions for managing compliance and environmental risk.

“Our partnership will drive growth for both companies, create unique value for our customers and provide incredible innovation for the maritime industry,” said Julian Longson, managing director, Pole Star Space Applications Ltd.

“Initially, our partnership will focus on joint development and commercialisation. For Ericsson, this partnership also underpins the strategy we have developed over the past several years, and it is a key move forward in our own digital transformation," added John Taxgaard, Ericsson head of maritime, customer group industry & society.

With advanced sanctions screening and vessel monitoring solutions, shipping companies will now be able to draw on the two partners’ complementary offerings, including global services capabilities such as consulting, systems integration, and support to both ship and shore-based managed operations.

According to the statement “the partnership will also be a key driver of growth and value for both companies, with each benefiting from incremental revenues. New and greater opportunities are also expected, as the partnership enables both companies to drive their efforts and investments to deliver value in growth markets.”
