Brazil’s Port of Açu and the Chinese Port of Guangzhou have signed a Co-operation Agreement aiming to share best practices, port operation information and management, as well as strengthening investment and business development co-operation.

Port of Açu is located in the south-east of Brazil close to the major markets of Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo and Minas Gerais.

The agreement promotes the development of a strategic relationship among the ports, contributing to the exchange of innovative technologies and cargo flows between them. Strengthening the relationship with Asian countries is part of the company's strategy to connect Brazil to ports that have the same characteristics as Açu.

"The partnership with the Port of Guangzhou, which is the 5th largest in the world, recognises the potential and differentials of Açu. We are a port-industry in operation, with capacity to receive large vessels and retro-area available for the installation of industries. Moreover, we have logistical efficiency to bring the main Brazilian production centres closer to the growing demands of China and other Asian countries,” said Tessa Major, Port of Açu, cco.
