The latest contract brings SapuraKencana's job orders from Brazil's national oil company to $4.1bn, after winning a $1.4bn contract in November 2011.
Under the deal, SapuraKencana will build, charter and operate three additional deepwater flexible pipe-laying support vessels over eight years, with an extension option for another eight years, it said in a statement. They will be built outside Brazil and designed to lay flexible pipelines in up to 3,000m of water depth offshore Brazil. Delivery is expected in the second quarter of 2016.
The new contract was awarded to SapuraKencana's associate company, Sapura Nevegacao Maritima S.A. Brazil, following a Petrobras tender late last year.
