Scorpio Tankers adds more MRs in revised order at Hyundai Mipo

The four MRs are priced at $34.5m each, and the company has fixed priced options for a further 10 similar newbuildings. The contract, which previously consisted of two MRs, at $34.5m each and two handymaxes, for $32.5m each, with six options each.

The four MR newbuildings are due for delivery in the first and second quarter of 2017.

For the third quarter 66% of Scorpio Tankers’ voyage days have been contracted at averages of $38,500 for LR2s, $28,500 for LR1s, $26,500 per day for MRs and $21,500 for handymaxes. The company recently took delivery of an MR tanker built at SPP Shipbuilding in 2014 and this has been deployed into the Scorpio MR pool.

Scorpio Tankers currently has a fleet of 78 product tankers.
