The systems are to be installed on product tankers ranging from 38,000 dwt to 100,000 dwt between Q4 this year and end 2022. Scorpio Tankers also took an undisclosed minority stake in Ecochlor.
The systems come with a lifetime servicing commitment from the company.
“We are honored to have been selected by Scorpio Tankers as their BWTS compliance partner and welcome Scorpio Tankers as a shareholder in our company,” said Steve Candito, ceo of Ecochlor.
Emanuele Lauro, chairman & ceo of Scorpio Tankers said: “Reliability and quality were primary considerations for us, given our commitment to safeguard the environment and complying with the complex regulatory guidelines for ballast water treatment.”
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
