SeaOne inks LoI for compressed gas liquid carriers at Sembmarine
Sembcorp Marine (Sembmarine) is set to build two neo-panamax compressed gas liquid (CGL) carriers for SeaOne Caribbean after inking a Letter of Intent with the Texas firm.

The LoI with Sembmarine for the vessels that can carry both gas and liquids is SeaOne’s second having signed a letter with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for 12 articulated truck/barge CGL vessels in May this year.

The neo-panamax carriers are a unique design by Sembmarine and will be 366 m in length with a capacity of 2bn cu feet and fitted with SeaOne’s CGL technology and systems. The vessels are currently at the FEED stage.

The vessels will be classed by ABS and flagged with the Marshall Islands.

Bruce Hall, president and coo of SeaOne said: “SeaOne has been working with Sembcorp Marine management and engineers for a while now. We have found them to be a proactive company that listens to new ideas in the gas and liquids marine transportation business and provides constructive inputs on the design of the large CGL transportation vessels.”

The vessel’s are designed for SeaOne’s Caribbean Fuels Supply Project transporting cargoes to receiving terminals in the Caribbean, Central and South American regions, from a CGL production facility now under construction at the Port of Gulfport in Mississippi. The ships will have a maximum speed of 20 knots.
