“The ocean is vital to humanity’s well-being and prosperity, but it faces serious challenges,” Erik Giercksky, head, sustainable ocean business at the UN Global Compact. “In short we need to work together to establish a framework for responsible business practices that can deliver growth, satisfy society’s demands and protect nature. We need to collaborate to build effective global governance — that, in essence, is what this meeting is about.”

Nor-Shipping 2019 will also see the UN Global Compact launch its new report, Global Goals, Ocean Opportunities, which explores a multi-stakeholder approach to how ocean industries can deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while enabling sustainable business growth.
