The FMC said Chinese and European Union regulators and the issues they would discuss would include carrier alliances, vessel sharing agreements and the impact of operational agreements on international trade.
"We welcome the exchange of views with our regulatory counterparts. The shipping industry is dynamic as evidenced by the changing nature of agreements,” said Mario Cordero, chairman of the FMC.
“The effects of these trends will have global implications that demand an international understanding of our changing industry.
The FMC announced plans for the summit in October after the members of the P3 alliance – Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) and CMA CGM - unveiled their global service network plans prior to making full regulatory filings.
