USCG search for tanker crew member missing in Gulf of Mexico
The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is searching for a seafarer missing from an aframax tanker in the Gulf of Mexico.

The chief engineer of the Liberian-flagged, 115,338 dwt tanker Elia was last seen at 1010hrs local time on Sunday as the vessel was enroute for the Port of Aransas anchorage, Texas.

The 47-year old Russian-national failed to show-up as requested at 1030hrs and after search throughout the vessel the Elia contacted the USCG at 1355hrs.

The USCG deployed vessels, a helicopter and an aircraft in the search.

If the missing crew member was not found by nightfall the USCG patrol vessel Amberjack would continue the search overnight.
