Under the agreements, each engine and propulsion system – 18 Wärtsilä 34 dual-fuel engines and eight Wärtsilä 32 engines in all - will be kept at optimised running conditions and fuel economy for the duration of their lifespan.
The system uses continuous condition monitoring to feed engine parameters into a centralised Wärtsilä database, for analysis by the company’s in-house engineering team, where problems can be detected early. Through its Online Remote Operational Support, Wärtsilä will provide continuous, remote and instantaneous engine tuning for optimum performance.
The six LNG-powered offshore vessels are set to be delivered at the end of 2014, with Harvey Gulf’s recent announcement that it would be setting up a new LNG bunkering facility at the US’ Port Fourchon, with help from Wärtsilä, for the purposes of refuelling them.
"We are very pleased to expand our partnership with Harvey Gulf,” said Wärtsilä North America service director Walter Reggente. “This agreement reaffirms their commitment to the offshore oil and gas business in the Gulf of Mexico by adding safe and environmentally sustainable LNG fuelled vessels to their modern fleet. With this extended partnership, we will enable the safe and reliable operation of their offshore supply and multi-purpose support vessels throughout their lifecycle.”
