UAE’s Adnoc Logistics & Services and Japan’s Inpex Corporation have penned a memorandum of understanding to explore LNG bunkering in the UAE and potentially expanding to Southeast Asia.

The two companies said in a joint statement that the use of LNG as a marine fuel on non-LNG carriers is expected to grow significantly as shipowners seek to comply with the 2020 IMO global sulphur cap.

The UAE is strategically located as a major bunkering hub and is a reliable producer and exporter of LNG, through Adnoc LNG, they added.
