The tanker arm of Malaysia’s MISC took delivery of the 320,000 dwt Eagle Vancouver from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering last week. The VLCC is fitted with a BWM system that disinfects ballast water using electrolysis technology.
“Investing in ballast water treatment technology at this early stage ensures that AET stays ahead of industry requirements and demonstrates our readiness to embrace our environmental responsibilities. This vessel is the first of four newbuild VLCCs to join our fleet in 2013 and all will comply with the BWM Convention,” said Hor Weng Yew, president and ceo of AET.
