AET welcomes new VLCC

AET welcomes new VLCC

Tokyo: MISC subsidiary American Eagle Tankers (AET) has taken delivery of its 10th VLCC  yesterday. The 299,999dwt vessel, named the 'Bunga Kasturi Empat' (pictured), was built by Universal Shipbuilding Corporation of Japan. The new vessel is the fourth of its class to be built by USC and the yard has been commissioned to build a further two VLCCs for delivery later this year and in mid 2008 respectively.

"Since we were acquired in 2003, our fleet has grown from 32 vessels to 68 with the delivery of Bunga Kasturi Empat," said AET president and ceo Amir Azizan. "We have firm orders for two more VLCCs and it is our intention to continue growing our fleet over the coming few years. Our VLCC operations complement our aframax fleet which currently stands at 48 vessels with over 20 more ships on order. Growing our fleet in this way, without compromising on our very high levels of service and quality standards, will allow us to achieve our objective to become the world's leading petroleum tanker operator within the next three to five years."  [20/04/07]
