Agility launches Indonesian oil and gas support barge

Singapore: Logistics expert Agility has launched a 70mtr long, heavy duty barge in Batam, Indonesia to meet growing demand for oil and gas logistics services in South East Asia. The vessel, named Agility 2301 (pictured), will be deployed on the company's scheduled daily service between Batam and Singapore carrying pipework, heavy outsized equipment to the oil and gas industry and other manufacturing sectors.

"This vessel demonstrates our commitment to our oil and gas clients in South East Asia that we are investing in assets to support their business," said Wolfgang Hollermann, Agility Asia Pacific ceo.

"The new vessel has been launched to support growing demand for specialist project logistics services in the regional oil and gas sector," said Mark Siegert, Agility Project Logistics Asia Pacific md. "We believe that it is important for Agility to own and operate its own vessels in order to provide the dedicated service that our customers expect."

Landside support for the service is through the dedicated warehouse based at Jurong Port and the sailing time from Batam to Singapore is about five hours.   [18/10/07]
