Seoul: A consortium of Hanjin Shipping, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Yang Ming Line and United Arab Shipping Company has announced plans to launch a container service between Asia and Southern Europe, starting at the end of May. The weekly service will operate with eight vessels of around 4,700 TEU, to be contributed equally by the four partners. The port rotation will be Busan - Shanghai - Ningbo - Yantian - Singapore - Colombo - Jeddah - Port Said - Alexandria - Mersin - Koper - Trieste - Rijeka - Venice - Port Said - Singapore - Hong Kong - Busan. The first westbound sailing will be from Busan on May 30. The trade moving to and from India is expected to benefit from the new service through dedicated feeder connections over Colombo. [12/05/10]
