The weekly Korea China Straits (KCS) service will include a call at Lianyungang in Jiangsu, China, which APL said few lines provide access to.
The service will be operated by five panamax containerships through a vessel sharing agreement with Cheng Lie Navigation with the first sailing from Dalian, China on 18 November.
“The KCS service will reinforce APL’s footprint in intra-Asia where the carrier seeks to fortify its presence as a leading ocean carrier,” APL said.
“The offering injects new capacity that allows APL to transport shipments from North Asia to its network of ports across Southeast Asia.”
Just last week APL ceo Nicolas Sartini told Seatrade Maritime News that the company planned to grow its presence in the intra-Asia trades.
KCS service will call the ports of Dalian, Xingang, Lianyungang, Kwangyang, Pusan, Shanghai, Nansha, Singapore, Port Klang, Jakarta, Surabaya and Manila.
