APM signs port operations deal in Bahrain

Bahrain: Netherlands based AP Moller-Maersk Terminals (APMT) has signed a 25 year agreement with the Bahrain Government to operate the commercial ports of Mina Salman and Khalifa bin Salman from the third quarter of 2008. APMT, which is to provide operational equipment for the Khalifa Bin Salman Port, will manage the import, export and transhipment of containerized and conventional cargo at Mina Salman and implement a berthing window system to regulate vessel arrivals and departures from the port. The group's sister company SvitzerWijsmuller will manage pilotage and towage services for Bahrain's territorial waters - except the Dry Dock at ASRY. [13/11/06]
