Asia-based fleets dominate liner Top 20

Hong Kong: No fewer than 13 out of the 20 top container lines in terms of operating capacity are based in Asia, according to the latest half yearly table released by Dynamar, highlighting the strength of shipowners in the region. Evergreen, Coscon, China Shipping, Hanjin and APL all made it into the top 10 in terms of both total operating capacity and chartered-in teu, while NYK placed 10th in terms of operating capacity (11th chartered in). Other Asian lines that made the cut include MOL (11th operating/ 12th chartered in), OOCL (12/16), "K" Line (13/13), Yang Ming (16/18), Hyundai Merchant Marine (18/15), PIL (19/19) and Wan Hai (20/23).  [26/10/06]
