Shangahai- ASL Marine has announced that its new yard in China's Guangdong province will double its offshore vessel construction capacity when it is operational in 2008, reports Reuters. Headquartered and listed in Singapore, the group owns and operates two other shipyards in Singapore and Batam in Indonesia.
The eight-hectare Guangdong shipyard is expected add an additional six offshore vessels to ASL Marine's current capacity of eight vessels per year. Although the yard will initially build medium-sized offshore vessels and FPSO conversions, ASL Marine plans to expand its capabilities to pipe-laying and heavy-lift vessels in the long run.
