Singapore: Iranian military forces have reportedly handed back the oil rig Orizont to its Romanian owners. The rig, on contract in the Arabian Gulf, was fired on and boarded according to the rig's owners Grup Servicii Petroliere. The Iranians have denied using military force against the rig saying they were only preventing its removal in a commercial dispute between Grup and the rig's charterers Oriental Oil. The Romanian company says it is owed $17m in unpaid charter hire by Oriental Oil. (23/08/06)
