Baltic Exchange Singapore launches Asian timezone reporting

Baltic Exchange Singapore launches Asian timezone reporting

Singapore: The Baltic Exchange has today begun reporting and publishing two existing tanker routes (TC4 and TC7) at new times via its recently opened Singapore office to meet the needs of the Asian markets. The Baltic will now report on routes TC4 (30000mt Singapore to Japan) and TC7 (30000 mt CPP Singapore to EC Australia) at 1600hrs Singapore time (2300 hrs London). All other Baltic tanker market information continues to be published at 1600 hrs (London).

"With ever increasing amounts of shipping activity taking place across Asia, it is vital that the Baltic is able to publish some of its information during the Asian working day using locally based shipbroking panels," said Jeremy Penn, Baltic Exchange ceo.

Responsibility for reporting will lie with the six Singaporean shipbroking panellists who currently contribute to these routes, while the remaining contributors will cease reporting. The two assessments will be removed from the BITR Clean Index and reported as stand alone routes.  [02/07/07]
