Barge capsizes off Singapore, 14 missing
Fourteen crew members are missing after a barge capsized in Singapore waters on Wednesday morning.

The Maritime & Port Authority said the barge believed to be Bolivian-registered sand-carrier, Oceanline SC208 capsized 7.5nm from Pedra Branca.

There were 15 crew onboard the barge at the time of the accident and one crew member, a Chinese national was rescued by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency. The other 14 crew compromising one Malaysian and 13 Chinese nationals are missing.

“Two vessels were deployed immediately by MPA. Singapore is coordinating the search and rescue (SAR) operations which involves vessels from the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSS Daring and RSS Fearless), the Singapore Police Coast Guard and several Malaysian vessels,” MPA said.
