Berlian Laju Tankers raises $57m through rights issues

Singapore: Fast-growing Indonesian tanker company Berlian Laju Tankers has raised $57m through a share issue on the Singapore and Indonesian Stock Exchanges. The dual-listed company said the proceeds from the oversubscribed offer would be used for "working capital". Majority shareholder PT Tunggaladhi Baskara took up its full rights in the 1.39bn share offer to remain in control.
Berlian claims to be the third biggest chemical carrier operator in the world with a fleet, including chartered ships of 63 vessels totalling around a 1m dwt. It also has an oil tanker fleet of 14 vessels totalling 937,000 dwt and 13 gas carriers. Five newbuildings are on order.  [11/08/09]
