Hong Kong: Asia Australia Discussion Agreement (AADA) has proposed imposing US$250 per teu and $500 per feu bunker surcharge for dry and reefer containers for services from China and Hong Kong to Australia from January 10. Container carriers are looking to push rates up on all tradelanes next year on the back of a hugely successful 2010 that Drewry now estimates will see the lines earn a collective $17bn.
AADA members include ANL, China Shipping, Cosco, Hamburg Sud, Hanjin, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai, "K Line", Maersk, MSC, MOL, NYK, OOCL, Gold Star and Zim. [15/12/10]
