BRS appoints ex-Clipper exec Herloev to its Shanghai office

BRS appoints ex-Clipper exec Herloev to its Shanghai office

Shanghai: Major international shipbroking group Barry Rogliano Salles has pulled off a coup by appointing a former leading executive with fast expanding Danish-owned shipowner Clipper Group to its Shanghai office. Per Herloev, former manager of newbuilding and sale and purchase at Clipper, will work with BRS' existing team of brokers and its subsidiary, Asia Shipping International, to develop business in China and the Far East.

Before joining BRS, Herloev was manager at Clipper's Copenhagen-based newbuilding and sale and purchase team. In this position he worked closely with shipyards and owners in Asia and Europe to support Clipper's bulker, tanker, ro-ro and multipurpose vessel activities.

"We are delighted to announce the appointment of Per Herloev, who brings with him more than 35 years of newbuilding and sale and purchase experience. Furthermore, Per brings valuable knowledge of the Chinese shipbuilding market, as well as an Owner's perspective on the market," said Jean-Bernard Raoust, president of BRS Group.

Prior to working with Clipper, Herloev spent five years in the Copenhagen office of K.I. Larsen A/S. Before that, he worked for 15 years as a competitive sale and purchase broker at Maersk Broker. Between 1976 and 1995 he was twice located in Hong Kong and has spent more than 15 years in Asia. He will start his new position in the BRS Group at the end of October.  [27/10/09]
