“One of the biggest concerns is the cost of fuel. There’s a lot of concern within our members companies and Intertanko on the methodologies that can be applied to reduce fuel costs,” Graham Westgarth, chairman of Intertanko, told Seatrade Asia Week.
“One of the things we have been working on within Intertanko is developing a speed optimisation model so people can plug in the TC rates, fuel costs, the voyage and it comes out with an optimal speed which gives you a platform to discuss with charterers, it also from an environmental perspective makes on sense,” he explained.
