Seoul: Busan, South Korea's largest port city, was selected as the venue for the 27th general meeting of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), the country's Maritime Affairs Ministry has confirmed.
Around 3,000 officials from 350 ports and maritime-related agencies worldwide are expected to gather in the city.
The IAPH, established in 1955, has developed into a global alliance of ports, representing some 230 in about 90 countries.
The member ports handle over 60 per cent of the world's sea-borne trade, and more significantly, nearly 90 per cent of the world's container traffic.
The association is a non-profit and non-governmental organization headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. [01/05/07]
