Busan port adds more incentives

Busan port adds more incentives

Busan: Further incentives have been unveiled by the Busan Port Authority to entice ships to both its old and new ports, which are about 75 miles apart.

Under the new system, container vessels can enjoy exemption of anchorage and entrance fee when they call at both current Busan Port and Busan New Port.

Also a barge transportation service to link Busan New Port with the existing Busan Port on a regular basis will be commissioned.

The two-calling system will be carried out for 2 years starting from July 1st and the barge-shuttle service will be operated by the end of June, 2009 after selecting a private barge operator.

BPA will also cover the loss of the barge operator when the private operator has operating losses of carrying 150 ~ 200 container teu.

With the implementation of the two-calling system, the BPA suggests a 5,000 teu  container vessel calling at both Busan New Port and current Busan Port will save KWR640,000 of port entrance fee and KWR340,000 of anchorage fee. [29/05/07]
