Seoul: Busan Port (pictured) and Jiangsu Dafeng Port have signed a memorandum of understanding out to establish a direct container service between the two ports. The service will cater to the large-scaled manufacturing companies located at both ports and is expected to revitalise trade. The mou also cements Busan Port's position as the preferred transhipment hub for Dafeng Port.
The Busan Port Authority said that close cooperation with small ports in China plays pivotal role in attracting more T/S cargo to Busan Port, which was the primary reason for signing MOU with Dafeng Port. Dafeng, which is located between Qingdao Port and Shanghai Port, was promoted to international trade port in 2006 by the Chinese government. [10/03/08]
