Tokyo: In a busy day for Scandinavian engine maker Wärtsilä in Japan, the firm announced new tie ups with IHI Marine United (IHIMU) and Hitachi Zosen.
A co-operation agreement with IHIMU was signed for an efficient propulsion system based on contra-rotating propellers (pictured) developed by IHIMU which will be incorporated into Wärtsilä's propulsion solutions used on board diesel-electric driven ships.
Meanwhile, Wärtsilä and Hitachi Zosen signed a ten-year renewal of the existing co-operation agreement for the marketing, sale, manufacturing and servicing of Wärtsilä low-speed marine diesel engines. [12/03/09]
