China and Singapore jointly promoting use of e-certificates

MPA-China MSA MoU
China and Singapore have signed a Memorandum of Understand (MoU) to promote the bilateral use and recognition of e-certificates.

Under the MoU the maritime authorities in China and Singapore will cooperate on the issuance, use and acceptance of e-certificates to facilitate port clearance and Port State control inspections.

The MoU was signed by Cao Desheng, director general of the China Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) and Quah Ley Hoon, chief executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on Thursday in Beijing.

The MPA said that using e-certificates would improve the efficiency of port clearance, allow for effective enforcement by maritime authorities, and reduce the paperwork burden for shipping companies and vessels.
