Shanghai: China's first created voyage data recorder (VDR) debuted at the National " 863" Software Industry Incubator (Shanghai) Base in Minhang District of Shanghai this week. Up until now the Chinese have had to rely on foreign brands such as Raytheon or Kongsberg (pictured) for such equipment. As China chases the top spot for shipbuilding it will be imperative that it develops its own shipboard equipment too. [24/01/07]
