China Merchants Port mulling reorganisation of Chiwan port facilities
Movements and realignments continue in the China port scene, with China Merchants Port (CMPort) announcing that its parent China Merchants Group is “is preparing for and analysing the feasibility of a material asset reorganisation in relation to Shenzhen Chiwan Wharf Holdings”.

CMPort took a controlling stake in the Shenzhen-listed company in 2012 and has been working to integrate it into its other port assets in West Shenzhen. Earlier this year, CMPort signed agreements to allow the latter to exert greater influence over the business and operations of Mega Shekou Container Terminals and Media Port Investments.

CMPort added that it will conduct its own feasibility study however the particulars of the reorganisation have not been determined yet and further announcements will be made as and when appropriate.
