China’s Ministry of Transport Vice Minister He Jianzhong stands down

He Jianzhong, Vice Minster of China’s Ministry of Transport (MOT), was responsible for shipping sector, has retired and left the position, according to the notice released by the State Council.

He was mainly responsible for waterway transportation sectors including the Waterway Transport Bureau, Maritime Safety Administration and Marine Search and Rescue Center.

He, born in 1958, had been working in several shipping companies before he moved to government office, including Wuhan Changjiang Shipping, China Changjiang National Shipping Group, Yichang Shipyard and Shanghai Changjiang Shipping.

He started his career life for the government in 2001, holding a post of deputy director for China’s Maritime Safety Administration. Then he held several positions in MOT and was named as the vice minister of MOT in 2013.
