China's biggest gantry crane up and lifting

Shanghai: Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industry Group has just put China's largest gantry crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 900 tons into operation. The crane span of164 meters, makes it wider than the length of a standard football field. Its height is 76 meters. It weighs 4,300 tons and costs nearly CNY 100 million. The 900-ton crane, built by Wuxi Dali Crane Factory, is the largest one in China.

The former largest gantry crane in China, which has the maximum lifting capacity of 800 tons, was used in the Ningbo branch of Samsung Heavy Industries Co.

South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries imported the world's largest gantry crane (pictured) with a lifting capacity of 1,500 tons from Kockums of Sweden and installed it in the Offshore Fabrication Yard in May 2003.

Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industry Group is being built with a total investment of CNY 4.96 billion and will manufacture LPG vessels, chemical ships, suezmaxes and panamax container ships.  [08/05/07]
