China's port throughput growth falls in July

Shanghai: China's major ports reported a year on year increase in throughput in July with slower growth rate.

Statistics showed that cargo throughput reached 500 million tons in July, up 13.6 percent year on year, including 170 million tons for foreign trade, up 8.7 percent. Container throughput totaled 10.904 million TEUs, up 14.6 percent.

The growth rate of increase in cargo throughput, foreign trade throughput and container throughput fell by 4.3 percentage points, 8.2 percentage points and 5.6 percentage points, respectively.

Among 100-mega-capacity ports, Yantai Port, Nantong Port, Rizhao Port, Suzhou Port and Qingdao Port posted fast growth in turnout while Qinhuangdao Port's throughput decreased. [17/9/08]
