Chittagong: The long-awaited 'Window Berthing' system was introduced at the seaport Monday.
Chairman of the Port Authority Commodore M Faruq inaugurated the new berthing system at noon with unloading containers from a ship, 'Markera Bridge', a Singapore flag carrier.
Speaking on the occasion, the port chairman said people from now on would be able to know the time of arrival and departure of any ship like the airlines services and the port activities will get a momentum following the introduction of the modern berthing system.
Two berths have been kept in reserve at the port terminal for use in case of emergency. [08/08/07]
