Two days after the announcement of the formation of Wallenius SOL by Wallenius and Swedish Orient Lines it has been revealed its order for four ice-class vessels has been made at CIMC Raffles in China.
The four vessels will be in 241 meters length and 35 meters width with a speed of 20 knots, equipped with two LNG tanks. They will be classified by Lloyds’ Register and registered under the flag of Sweden.
The newbuilds will be the largest ro-ro vessels built to Finnish/Swedish Ice Class 1A Super deployed for European shipping routes, which are scheduled for delivery in 2021.

“There are many potential opportunities in this market, it is a breakthrough for our company following the ro-ro contract signed with Bohai Ferry last year,” said Li Minggao, deputy president of CIMC Raffles.
