Clean-up efforts from Singapore oil spills continue
The Singapore authorities have continued containment and clean-up efforts from two oil spills from collisions in the port last week.

“The clean-up efforts have resulted in significant improvements to Singapore’s port waters, except for minor oil patches in the vicinity of the Southern Islands, and a few patches of oil at Pulau Seringat shoreline which are being removed by response craft and personnel using oil booms and skimmers,” the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said in a statement on Tuesday.

The oils spills were caused containership NYK Themis hit the barge AZ Fuzhou at East Keppel Fairway at about 4 km south of Marina South on 30 January and the the Hong Kong-flagged chemical tanker Lime Galaxy collided with the China-flagged containership Feihe at about 2.7 km south of Jurong Island on 29 January.

The MPA said investigations into both incidents were ongoing.
